Jacksonville, NC – Skyport Aviation at OAJ Airport was honored to be part of a memorable moment as a recently recognized Medal of Honor recipient visited the airport and spent time with members of the local aviation community.
The visit became even more meaningful when the distinguished Marine veteran met with two Skyport Aviation team members who also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. The occasion provided an opportunity to recognize the shared values of service, dedication, and commitment that connect military veterans across generations.
The Medal of Honor is the United States military’s highest award for valor in combat, recognizing service members who distinguish themselves through acts of extraordinary courage and self-sacrifice. The recipient’s visit to OAJ Airport served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have served our nation.
“Our team was honored to welcome and recognize a true American hero,” said a Skyport Aviation representative. “Having two of our own Marine Corps veterans share this moment made it especially meaningful for everyone involved.”
Skyport Aviation has long valued the contributions of veterans within its workforce and the communities it serves. Across its network of Fixed Base Operations (FBOs), the company proudly employs veterans whose leadership, professionalism, and dedication continue to strengthen the aviation industry.
The gathering at OAJ Airport highlighted the strong connection between military service and aviation, while offering employees and visitors an opportunity to reflect on the importance of honoring those who have served our country with distinction.
Skyport Aviation extends its sincere gratitude to all veterans and active-duty military personnel for their service and commitment to protecting the freedoms enjoyed by Americans every day.
